Western Fest parade winners announced

The winners have been announced for the 57th Annual Elk Grove Western Festival’s parade, held May 3. They include a diverse array of marching bands, pirates, and Shriner bands who paraded from Old Town to Elk Grove High School during a breezy spring morning.

Best in Class: Pirates Island Partners (Best Parade Float), Sierra Nevada Guns for Hire (Best Parade Novelty), and Sheldon High School Marching Band (Best Parade Band).

Floats: Pirate Island’s Partners (Senior Organization Float), and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and School (Junior Organization Float).

Musical: Ben Ali Shrine’s Oriental Band (Organization Band), Sheldon High School Marching Band (Senior High School Band), Royal All-Star Marching Band (Junior High School/Elementary School Marching Band).

Drill Teams: Valley High School Air Force Junior ROTC Honor Guard (Color Guard), Sheldon High School Marching Band (Drill Team), Elk Grove High School Cheer (Cheer Squad), Sheldon High School Marching Band (Drum Major), Valley High School Air Force Junior ROTC Honor Guard.

Mounted Units: Armondos Pony Pals (Future Horsemen), Rancho San Lorenzo (Mounted Group), Soprano on a Dancing Horse (Novelty Horse).
