On Oct. 6, Ellsworth Beckman and wife, Janet, made a donation to Lodi Lodge No. 256, Free and Accepted Masons, to establish educational funds for two masonic youth groups, the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and DeMolay International. In a prepared statement, Beckman stated that he and his wife were establishing the funds in remembrance of their fathers Hugh A. McKenzie, who was Master of Lodi Lodge in 1924, and Emil Beckman who became a lodge member that same year.
Beckman and his wife were both very active in the youth groups. Beckman served as the Master Councilor of the Lodi Chapter DeMolay and Janet Beckman served as Worthy Advisor of Wood-Lo Rainbow Assembly.
The Beckmans are lifelong residents of the Lodi area. Beckman farmed in the Victor area raising cherries and grapes. He has been a member of Masonic Order for 58 years and served as Master of Lodi Lodge in 1961. Both he and his wife have been active members of Ben Ali Shrine and supporters of the Shrine Hospitals for Children.
