Masons announce scholarships for 22 local students
The Masons of Eugene Lodge #11 and McKenzie River Lodge #195 gave 22 local high school and college students a total of $41,000 to assist with their education.
Each of the students plans on attending a public university or community college in Oregon. They were selected based on scholarship, need, recommendations and the relevance of their future plans.
The Eugene Lodge #11 scholarship recipients are: Johnathan Moran, of Churchill High School; Himee Green, of Crow High School; Adreana Mask, of Elmira High School; Nancy Hay, of Harrisburg High School; Alex Johnson, of Junction City High School; Alex Nastasiuk, of McKenzie High School; Jia Eagle Charley, of Mohawk High School; Kaitlyn White of North Eugene High School; Philip Stinett, of Sheldon High School; Benjamin Morrow, of South Eugene High School; Gabriel Wolfe, of Springfield High School; Emily Meehan and Madeline Metcalf, both of Thurston High School, and Emily Anders, of Willamette High School. In addition, Eugene Lodge #11 provided two scholarships to the LCC Music Department. Each of them will receive $2,000 to assist in their education.
Recipients of the Earl Hulstrom Masonic Scholarship that was given by McKenzie River Lodge #194, each receive a $1,500: Nicole Rios, of Churchill High School; Kelly Chen, of Junction City High School; Teresa Sorensen, of North Eugene High School; Jonathan Martinez, of Sheldon High School; Xueer (Alicia) Li, of South Eugene High School; and Emily Anders, of Willamette High School.
Masons are strong supporters of public education. In addition to scholarships for local students, Masons in Oregon support for public education through such activities as providing training for educators in identifying and supporting at risk students and supporting reading programs in schools.
