New on Energy Way



The Kerak Shrine Temple off of Energy Way served as the venue for a gathering of the members of the Kerak Shrine and other dignitaries as they observed their annual installation of officers this past Saturday evening. The Kerak Shrine Temple of Reno, saw local Masons and Shriners joined by their family members to honor the incoming officers and directors.
Saturday’s ceremony officially presented the elected officers for the Kerak Shrine for the 2013 year who are: Illustrious Sir Richard “Dick” Hawkins Potentate (President), Chief Rabban Gene Fox (VP of the Circus), Assistant Rabban Lerry Chalfant (VP of Hospital Relations), High Priest & Prophet Bill Earnhardt (VP of Marketing), and Oriental Guide Jasper Allen Jacobs (VP of Membership).
The evening also included the swearing in of 1st Ceremonial Master David Hamilton, 2nd Ceremonial Cody Conway, Marshal Don Clukey, Director General Glen Chandler, Chief Aide Rod Stahl, Assistant Aides Bob Hall & Dwain Thornton, Executive Aide Michael Fox, Screening Clinic Director Michael O’Leary, Captain of the Guard Frank Jones, Outer Guards Darrell Norman, Bill Kausler & Erik Roberts, Photographer Skip Pounds, and Keeper of the Flame Ted Lokke.
Among those in attendance for the ceremony were Shriner Potentates and representatives from Sacramento, San Francisco and Livermore. Along with the local Rainbow Girls (A youth group for young ladies between 12 and 20) and Daughters of the Nile (For ladies related to members of the Shrine).
The Shriners work very hard to support “The World’s Greatest Philanthropy”, our twenty-two orthopedic and burn center hospitals are located through North American. Children under the age of 18 receive the best medical care possible, no child is every turned away because of their parents inability to pay for any treatment received in a Shrine Hospital regardless of race, creed or relationship to a Shriner.
