Capitol Concours d’Elegance

2010 Capitol Concours d'Elegance Weekend of Events Declared a Great Success

Incredible Cars and Bikes Thrill Thousands of Visitors along Capitol Mall for Good Cause

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The 2010 Capitol Concours d'Elegance displayed over 100 beautiful cars and motorbikes on September 19 to a crowd of thousands. Classics and exotics lined Capitol Mall as high rise structures and the California State Capitol building served as backdrop.

Early morning drizzles were replaced with sunshine that highlighted an afternoon of motorsports nirvana. "All Concours weekend events were a great success for sponsors, car owners, enthusiasts and Shriners Hospitals for Children™," said Alan Anderson, Director of Development for Shriners Hospitals for Children®-Northern California.

Those who supported the weekend events created to generate money for Shriners Hospitals for Children™ experienced a Saturday morning rally that meandered through the downtown Sacramento area, Saturday evening dinner on the 25th floor of a high rise, and the Sunday Concours d'Elegance event that showcased some of the finest vintage vehicles in the world.

A panel of judges scrutinized vehicles according to SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) rules. Concours cars thrilled spectators who snapped photographs as cars paraded by. Awards were presented to winners of each judged class. An exceptional 1933 Rolls-Royce PII Convertible took home the Sid Colburg Best of Show Award. Bruce Grant Award honors went to a rare 1956 Pegaso Z-102 Panoramica and the Honorary Judges Award went to a pristine 1954 Kaiser Darrin.

Members of car enthusiast group EuroSunday lined an entire block of the event with everything from European Sports Cars to the latest electric vehicle from Silicon Valley-based Tesla Motors. Members of the Ferrari Club of America Pacific Region-Sacramento Chapter gave rides to anxious passengers around a closed course who donated one cent to one hundred dollars to support Shriners Hospitals for Children™. California Auto Museum docents gave visitors "inside tours" of the event.

"So much goes into delivering an event of this caliber. Thanks to a team who worked tirelessly for months, along with volunteers, sponsors, vendors and car owners - our event was a success. Many car owners and businesses are interested in a 2011 event and we plan to announce the date in coming months," shared Alan Anderson.
