Firefighters,Shriners,UC Davis Health

The Firefighters Burn Institute, Shriners Hospitals for Children and UC Davis Health System do some wonderful things in the community, and this Saturday you can help support their works—and have fun—by attending A Tropical Affair. The night of food, wine and beer tastings is hosted by Mark S. Allen and Courtney Dempsey from “Good Day Sacramento.” Some of places offering edibles and drinkables: Cafeteria 15L, Lost Coast Brewery, Bogle Vineyards, Icing on the Cupcake and Hook & Ladder. Tropical Tiki Hut cocktails are available for an extra charge. Makamae Melia O'Polynesia will entertain with a hula show, adding to the tropical vibe, and local band RADIO will keep the tunes coming. Firefighters will be on hand selling raffle tickets for great prizes, including restaurant gift certificates and winery tours/tastings. The event takes place outdoors, behind Shriners Hospitals for Children at X and 45th streets. Park for free in the hospital’s parking garage at 2425 Stockton Blvd.
The event runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and you must be 21 or older to attend. Tickets are $50 each or two for $90. What to wear? Think tropical: This is the time to break out that Hawaiian print shirt or dress and don those flip-flops that might be deemed too casual at other galas.
