Shriners fundraiser on the farm

Back to the Farm, presented by the Ben Ali Shriners, will bring back memories of past days spent outdoors with family and friends this weekend.

The fundraiser for Shriners is Saturday at the walnut farm on Highway 20 at Farmlan Road, Meridian.
"This is reminiscent to me of what we did as a family when I was a young man," said Lew Wentworth, recorder/secretary for Ben Ali Shrine. "It's kind of back to the farm, straight old values. It's afternoon fun."
Activities include exhibits of tractors and farm equipment, a farmers market, craft booths, face painting and games such as milk bottles, horseshoes and a pie-eating contest.
Food, a deejay and music and information about the Shriners and the Shrine Hospitals for Children, Northern California are also part of the event.
Admission is $5 per wheel on visitors' vehicles.
A 45-K "fun ride" previously scheduled as part of the event was canceled due to lack of registration.
